A friend of mine just brought this to my attention on Friday:
Article: "Rome on Alert for Tiber Breaking Its Banks"
He asked, "Aren't you glad you went when you went?" Helllll yes! Carlos and I can't believe how fortunate we are to have gone to Rome when we did. There was a point in the honeymoon planning phase when we thought maybe we'd go toward the end of this year (around this time) to give ourselves time to save up even more money than what we went over there with. But we decided to go right after the wedding, and we are so so grateful that we did.
We are saddened about this news, however. Now Rome, the Eternal City, somehow seems somewhat defeated -- by weather, rains, floods -- by forces of nature. For now we will keep hoping the best for the people of Rome, a place we will always hold dear to our hearts simply because of all it provided for us during our honeymoon.
